Tyres & Rubber Applications

Shredding is the only way to reduce the growing mountain of used tires. UNTHA Shredders has therefore developed special cutters for two and four-shaft machines for this very purpose. Depending on the intended use, both shredder systems can achieve a defined rubber granule size of 20 to 100 mm and larger. The rubber granules produced are mainly processed further in recycling plants, e.g. granule factories, or burnt in cement works as an alternative energy source.

UNTHA S120 and S150 series two-shaft shredders, known as rotary shears, can be fitted with a perforated screen to ensure a granule size of less than 100 mm. This small granule size is especially efficient for combustion in cement works.

Our RS50 to RS100 series four-shaft shredders, with their specially equipped rubber cutters, are capable for instance of shredding a car tire to a granule size of less than 20 mm, in a single step. The patented four-shaft system separates the steel wire from the rubber during the shredding process. A magnet over the conveyor belt then ensures that any remaining metal is removed.

Depending on your specific requirements, shredders can be equipped with electric or electro-hydraulic drives for stationary plant or diesel-hydraulic drives for mobile plant.
