Plastic Shredding Applications

The demands placed on plastic shredders vary enormously. Large plastic components in particular, such as drums, pipes and car bumpers, represent a major challenge for the machines. The UNTHA LRK and MR series machines are therefore specially equipped to shred these materials. As demanding tasks require sophisticated machines, we have developed special plastic cutters for the RS40, RS50, RS60 and RS100 series. The purpose of the shredding process is to reduce volume. The shredded materials are then treated in washing plants and processed further in recycling plants, e.g. extrusion or manufacture into granules.

The LRK and MR series cover a broad range of uses. The cutting system of the single-shaft shredder can be supplied with the appropriate rotor geometries and reversible cutting blade shapes and sizes to suit your requirements. Different granule sizes are defined by the corresponding perforated screen dimensions. If rapid cleaning times are required, LRK Series single-shaft shredders can also be supplied with a fast cleaning system. This is a decisive advantage when processing different plastics in batch quantities.

The slow running characteristics of the four-shaft RS40 to RS100 series can provide uniform large granules with a low level of fines. This is desirable for certain applications, such as the shredding of PET bottles. Four-shaft shredders are also ideal for shredding very long and bulky or awkwardly shaped plastic components, as the special cutting system ensures the part is drawn into the machine correctly.
