Domestic Waste Shredding Applications

The increasing incineration of waste is intended to reduce the growth of the "waste mountains" in the future. The European Union now has new regulations on waste, designed to prevent the dumping of easily combustible materials.

The crucial step in the process, prior to the actual incineration, is the shredding of the waste to a defined size to ensure that the incineration is efficient. The UNTHA XR series single-shaft shredder has been specially developed for this application. These machines can also be used to shred waste for further processing in waste separation plants, transfer lines and mechanical/biological waste treatment plants.

UNTHA XR series single-shaft shredders are particularly suitable for use in waste incineration plants. The granule size of less than 80 mm needed for efficient combustion in fluidized bed incinerators is easily achieved with our screening bar system (patent application filed).

The hydraulically controlled diversion of foreign bodies offers a great advantage which is particularly useful when shredding bulky or awkwardly shaped waste, as this avoids down-time caused by time-consuming intervention by operating personnel. A further advantage is that costs caused by wear and tear are minimized by the long-life reversible cutting blade.
